Data Analytics: What it is, and why it matters
You see lots of job postings. It’s almost like the “must have toy” of the decade. Every organization is getting or growing its data analytics capabilities; but why? What is it, how is it done, how does it impact Records Management and other information governance controls and how can I learn how to do it? Join ARMA Greater Cincinnati Chapter to learn more about this growing discipline that is part IT, part Sherlock Holmes, and part statistician.
Michael J. Fry is Professor and Head of the Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems and has been named a Lindner Research Scholar in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. Previously, Professor Fry served as Interim Director of the University of Cincinnati Center for Business Analytics, and he has been a visiting professor at Cornell University and University of British Columbia. He has consulted for a variety of organizations including Great American Insurance Group, Procter & Gamble, Cardinal Health, Boeing, Copeland Corporation, Coleman Company, Starbucks Coffee Company, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union and others.
Professor Fry’s main research interests are in supply chain analytics and public policy operations. In particular, Dr. Fry applies quantitative methods to improving supply chain operations such as logistics systems and inventory planning. Professor Fry has published more than 25 refereed articles in leading academic journals. He is also the coauthor of multiple textbooks including Essentials of Business Analytics and Quantitative Methods for Business.
